• The turnup of fans as been below par

•Maybe due to the appalling state of facilities and the school's structure.

On the 16Th of July, 2016, the annual Student Union Government Football  tournament (S.U.G Cup) kicked off. On the opening day 8 matches were scheduled to take place on the schools pitch. The first game started a couple of minutes after 10am and two matches were postponed to the next day.

They were four groups and each groups had 5 teams in it. The ten colleges had two teams representing them. The two teams were divided across levels except from COLVET. TeamA of every other colleges consist of 100 and 200 level students while teamB contains 300, 400 and 500 level.

COLAMURDB had the best outing in the group stages winning three(3) and drawing one(1) of their four games. COPLANTB topped group B, while  COPLANTA Team also topped their group. Group D was for COLANIMB to top and they did just that.

After losing heavily on the opening day, COLFHECA went back to the drawing board and did enough to secure the second position in group A. COLAMURDA secured the second position behind the group COLPLANTB. After wining two matches, a draw and a loss handed the second position to COLANIMA.

COLBIOSA did enough to equal COLANIMB, but head to head ties landed them in the second position behind COLANIMB. Both COLVET teams were knocked out, COLFHECB and COLMASB were not able to make three points too.

The state of facilities used in the competition so far hasnt been alluring, maybe that's the reason for low turnout of players and fans. Medical facilities are totally absent as the medical team attend to players on the pitch with only sachet water.

Students are eager to engage in sports but lack of amenities discourages those who have serious interest in it. Ammenities such as stretchers, well equipped first aid boxes-  which shouldn't be a difficult thing to be provided by either the S.U.G or the school authority.

As we wait for the round of 16 games we hope we get improved facilities, more fans and footballers who are willing to play this beautiful game with passion.
