Reaching Out From FUNAAB to The World

PRESS STATEMENT: FUNAAB PROTEST, NO LIFE LOST.

It is unfortunate to announce to the public of the evil that transpired in the gateway state today, in the Obantoko/Osiele axis where students of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta were demoralised in the course of having their protest which later result to violence and attack on the Men of the Nigerian Police .

The protest started peacefully  under the guidance of the Student Union President of Funaabsu, and ably monitored by the NANS JCC Chairman, who is also a student of the university until it was hijacked by hoodlums and led to violence.

We commend the students bravery in demonstrating their grievances but for future sake, urge them to follow appropriate produces and desist any form of violence that might not face save articulate students unionism, their institution, and the State at large, because we are envied nationally for maintaining a peaceful society.

And I am glad to inform everyone that no life was lost as early circulated by some quarters. Taiwo Abisoye of Forestry and Wildlife Department in the university who was injured during the protest  his now responding to treatment. And currently, his been transferred to UCH Ibadan for proper medical attention.

In lieu, I urge all and sundry to stealth sword and maintain peace while we sort and promise to bring the perpetrators to book, to avoid future situation.
Meanwhile, proper talk is on going  with the Nigeria Police Force on the detained students  and how to ensure adequate security measures within and outside the institution community.

It is important to state clearly that His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun Fca, Con , administration will not condole any act of violecence, breach of public peace and theft in the state. Ogun State is not an hideout for criminals irrespective of situation.

Thank You for Your  Concern.

Comrade Olusegun Clement,
Special Assistant on Students Affairs,
Ogun State Government,
Abeokuta
