PRESS RELEASE FROM FUNAABSU




Being the press statement released by the Students’ Representative Assembly, FUNAABSU through the House Committee on Information and Resolution Matters, Sequel to the sitting of the House on the 10th of November 2016, the house has the following resolutions:



 1. The Secretary of Treasury was suspended and the following were the allegations levelled against him.

*đź’ˇRefusal to provide the Unions’ comprehensive statement of account for GTBank and Microfinance Bank which have been asked by the Honorables of The Hallowed Chamber since the beginning of the second semester.*

*đź’ˇMisappropriation of the GTBank funds and the 600,000 voluntary donation from a philanthropist for self-help project.*

The Director of Finance should function in his place. In addition, The Secretary of Treasury should comply with the Audit Committee in the auditing of the Union’s account as his compliance will determine if he will be reinstated or not at the next sitting of the House.


2. The General Secretary was relieved of his post for *misappropriating about 125,000naira for the complete computer system approved for him @ 45,000, printer and photocopier @ 40,000, 2000V stabilizer @ 5,000, flash drive @ 5,000 and diverting grant on Leadership conference @ 30,000 to FUNAABSU @ 25 without notifying the House.* The following steps are to be taken against the General Secretary with immediate effect as stipulated in FUNAABSU Constitution {Article 20, Section 106 Appendix 1 (OATH OF OFFICE) no 4}

*đź’ˇThe University authority should be contacted with the view to effect necessary corrective and disciplinary actions*

*đź’ˇHis (The General Secretary) guarantor should be contacted with the view to recover the embezzled amount.*

*đź’ˇA Court action should be instituted against the general secretary to retrieve the said misappropriated funds*

In addition the Assistant General Secretary should function in his place with immediate effect.


3. The House also ratified the Electoral and Audit committee;
