TOP 20 SONGS OF 2016(compiled by pulse.ng)



The first 6 months of 2016 is about to come to an end, with
numerous musicians working the mic to release new
music. From the streets of Enugu, through the studios of
Lagos, Nigeria has been inundated with diverse songs from
all corners, vying for limited spots on playlists.

While there has been no true hit song for the year, a number
of hot jams have been released, coupled with the
magnificent sonic productions from many acts and
engineers.
Pulse Music scratches the underbelly of Nigerian
mainstream music and brings to you the top twenty tracks
of the first half of 2016.
Banky W - 'Made for you' »
EME’s Banky W doesn’t fall below par as he thrills on this
reggae number titled 'Made For You'.
The Masterkraft produced record is one of the best love
anthems this season.

Simi - 'Love don't care' »
After a fantastic run in 2015, Nigerian singer and songwriter
Simi kicks off 2016 with a lovely piece dedicated to all the
lovers out there.
Titled ‘ Love don’t care ’, Simi shows us a deeper meaning of
the word love – it cares for the next person irrespective of
status, religion or ethnicity.
The single was produced by Oscar with additional
production (guitar) by Fiokee, mixed and mastered by Simi
herself.

Tekno – ‘Where’ »
Tekno » presents his first single of 2016. His new song
titled ‘ Where » ’ was produced by Selebobo.
The 'Duro ' singer collaborated with the producer in
December 2015 on a track called ' Maria » '.

Tekno is signed to Made Men Music Group (Triple MG ). The
singer whose real name is Augustine Miles Kelechi scored
his best year in 2015 with his two singles ‘Duro’, and
‘ Wash ’.

Yemi Alade - 'Ferrari' »
After debuting ‘ Ferrari ’ with an electrifying
performance at the AMVCA 2016, Yemi Alade drops
the DJ Coublon produced number which serves as
the third single off her sophomore album " Mama
Africa ".
Preceded by the grateful ‘ Na Gode’ , and the DJ Arafat
assisted dance anthem ‘Do as I do’, ‘ Ferrari’ which
features guitar strings by Fiokee is a stellar highlife number
that talks about love as an action word, which Yemi Alade
singing, "Love no be for mouth..." on the chorus.
Fans and music lovers demanded the release of the cut
following the praised performance, and Effyzzie Music has
acted based on popular demand.

Olamide - 'Abule sowo' »
Olamide marked his 27th birthday on Tuesday March 15,
2015 with a fresh joint titled 'Abule sowo' .
The song was produced by Pheelz .

Harrysong - 'Baba for the girls' ft Kcee »
Harrysong gives us another catchy tune titled ‘ Baba for the
girls’ featuring Kcee .
The ‘Reggae blues’ singer recently dropped a funny tune he
called ‘ Aka gum ’ which is still buzzing on the streets.
‘ Baba for the
girls’ to mark the Five Star singer’s birthday.

Adekunle Gold - 'Ready' »
Adekunle Gold drops a love-laced song titled 'Ready'. The
song is a follow up to his previously released singles
'Orente 'and 'Sade'.
Mixed by Simi , with Fiokee on the guitar, this song will
mark his last single on his forthcoming debut album.

Falz - 'Bahd Baddo Baddest' ft Olamide, Davido »
Falz releases a new tune with a creative title 'Bahd Baddo
Baddest' which features Olamide and Davido.
The title relates to the alias names the stars have given
themselves and have come to be known as in the industry.
This tune comes off Falz's 'sophomore album " Stories That
Touch ".

Cobhams Asuquo - 'Boosit' ft Falz »
Cobhams Asuquo features Falz in this comic tune 'Boosit '
which aims to pass a message while also giving off a sense
of humour.
The song sees Cobhams and Falz take on a funny Ibadan
accent, while addressing serious issues bothering on being
accountable and responsible as a human being.

Timaya - 'M.O.N.E.Y' ft Flavour »
The highly anticipated record of Dem Mama Record’s
Timaya and 2nite Entertainment’s act, Flavour finally
surfaces as promised.
The Young D produced tune is titled ‘M.O.N.E.Y’ and the
record is obviously a potential hit.

Phyno, Olamide - 'Fada Fada' »
Olamide and Phyno collaborate on a thankful note to God
counting their blessings in the song 'Fada fada'.
Their previous 2012 collaboration 'Ghostmode' was a hit.
The Ghetto gospel song 'Fada fada ' was produced by
Masterkraft.
Olamide's last single ' Abule Sowo' and freestyle heat 'Who
you epp' are currently dominating airplay across the
streets. The label boss also recently signed a female singer
Temmie Ovwasa to his label who has a single out
' Jabole » '.
Phyno is set to release new album "Playmaker" which
would feature artistes like 2baba, Timi Dakolo, Olamide and
Cynthia Morgan.
The Indigenous rapper's ' Ezege' single is still getting a lot
of buzz on the streets and airplay on radio as well.

Wizkid, DJ Henry - 'Like this' »
The official version of the Wizkid and Holland
based DJ Henry collaboration 'Like this' has been
released.
The song follows his 'One dance' collaboration with Drake
which peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100
charts.

Koker - 'Kolewerk' »
Chocolate City Music presents the much anticipated single
– ‘ Kolewerk’ by the rapid rising singer, songwriter and all-
round performer Koker, with topnotch Clarence
Peters directed visuals.
Koker’s ‘ Kolewerk’ was produced by the super-talented
CBN in-house producer, Reinhard and it definitely has all
the boxes checked in being 2016’s Nigerian Club anthem.

Zoro - 'Ogene' ft Flavour »
Zoro kicks off the year with this much anticipated jam
‘ Ogene’ which features the king of highlife Flavour
N’abania.
The song is produced by Kezy klef & Major Bangz, mixed
and mastered by Extraordinaire.

Omawumi - 'Play na play' ft Angelique Kidjo »
Coming off the heels of her critically acclaimed cover of
Adele’s Hello, Omawumi releases her new single 'Play Na
Play' featuring Grammy award-winning artist, Angelique
Kidjo.
Singer/Songwriter/Entertainer, Omawumi has announced
the release of her yet untitled third album due out spring
2016. The new age singer, introduces fans and newcomers
alike to a new musical journey by recording a completely
live album.
'Play Na Play' is a live production arranged by Cobhams
Asuquo . The live album features production from longtime
collaborator Cobhams Asuque, Grammy award-winning
artist Angelique Kidjo, Grammy nominated artist Salif Keita
and more yet to be announced international collaborations.

Sugarboy – ‘Hola Hola’ »
Since been signed to the label G-Worldwide Entertainment
in 2015 , Sugarboy drops first single ‘ Hola Hola’
The Nigerian reggae-dancehall act had previously done
some hot piece of music with label mate Kiss Daniel and DJ
Shabsy on the massive hit “ Raba ”, and with Kiss Daniel on
“Molue”.
It was just matter of time before Sugarboy hit the street with
his fresh joint which will definitely get listeners singing
along.

DJ Enimoney, Olamide – ‘Oya dab’ »
Olamide and DJ Enimoney have joined forces on a new tune
titled ‘ Oya dab ’. The single was produced by B-Banks and
mastered by Pheelz .
DJ Enimoney is not only Baddo’s brother; he’s also the
official YBNL Nation DJ.
The new joint by the YBNL artists can be accompanied by
the latest hip-hop dance – dab. Dabbing is when the
dancer raises their hand into their face, then drops their
face into the elbow of that arm while lifting up their other
arm up in the air.

WurlD, Walshy Fire, Shizzi - 'Show you off' »
Nigerian-American singer WurlD releases a new ‘Afro soul’
single titled ‘Show you off,’ a collaboration with Major
Lazer’s Walshy Fire and producer Shizzi.
Walshy Fire’s been at the forefront of this new hybrid of
Afrobeats and Caribbean sounds through collaborations
with the likes of Wizkid and Runtown is currently working
on finishing up an Afro-Caribbean EP called Global Citizen.
In ‘Show You Off’, Walshy shares production duties with
Nigerian beat maker Shizzi, the man behind Davido’s
‘Skelewu’, ‘Dami Duro’ and ‘Show you the money’ among
many other top Nigerian hits.

Humblesmith - 'Osinachi' ft Davido »
The highly anticipated remix for the smash hit single –
‘Osinachi‘ from Humblesmith has finally dropped.
On this outstanding remix, Humblesmith features multi-
Platinum selling artist Davido who came through with his
high fidelity vocal performance.

D'banj - 'Emergency' »
Missed the afro-pop force that is D’banj ? We bring you
good news as we premiere the Koko Master ‘s latest single
titled ‘Emergency’ .
The Afrobeats number shows Dapo’s depth as a pop titan
and also features harmonica played by the host.
D’banj first debut the track with a praised performance at
the Glo CAF Awards 2015 , after the performance he
unlocked the number digitally.

Lil Kesh - 'Ibile' »
Lil Kesh has released a new single titled 'Ibile'.
The YBNL artiste who lost out at the Headies Awards, seeks
to move past the controversy as he feeds his fans with new
music.
'Ibile' is a co-production by YBNL in-house music men,
Pheelz and Young Jonn.

Reekado Banks - 'Oluwa ni' »
Mavin Records superstar artist and “The Headies 2015 Next
Rated act”; Reekado Banks comes through with a new
single dubbed “Oluwa Ni” accompanied with a Clarence
Peters directed video.
Reekado uses the Altims produced song to explain to the
world the strength of God as the provider of everything he
has achieved.
Just like the intro: "Gbedu wey dey burst brain" , Oluwa Ni
is sure to leave you thrilled.

Korede Bello - 'Mungo Park' »
On the back of ' Romantic » ' featuring Tiwa Savage,
Korede Bello drops a humorous tune titled 'Mungo Park '.
The song teases bachelors and spinsters that are due for
marriage and for some reason have refused to settle down
yet.
